Famous celebrity chef spoilers follow.

Famous celebrity chefThe latest streak continued with its second heat tonight (August 16), with more stars trying to impress Gregg Wallace and John Torode in the kitchen.

This week, dancer and reality TV star MoJo, choirmaster Gareth Malone, boxing champ Chris Eubank, EastEnders All Saints alumni Cliff Parisi and Mel Blatt battle it out to advance to the next round.

Unfortunately for MoJo, she fell at the first obstacle. But what happened in the episode to lead to its release?

First, the celebrities had to show off their skills using a pre-chosen ingredient as the centerpiece. Chris, Cliff, Gareth and MoJo were all praised for their dishes, while Mel’s was singled out as particularly good, and Chris even asked if they could save some of Mel’s for him.

After one of the strongest starts in a while, the group was tasked with tasting some poutine, noting the ingredients they noticed. A lot of celebrities have mistaken cottage cheese for halloumi, while Gareth thought cayenne pepper was paprika (which is pretty close).

The celebrities were then given a bunch of ingredients — some that actually went into the poutine, some that didn’t — and told to make their own. Both Cliff and MoJo chose the wrong meat, using tough venison instead of beef. Like Cliff, Chris also mistakenly added gooseberry jelly to his sauce, and way too much of it. “Too much is a good place to start,” he argued, and you wouldn’t argue with Chris Eubank, would you?

Mel came out on top once again, not using the wrong ingredient. Gareth was right behind with his attempt. Cliff completely missed the mark but was told his dish “wasn’t a total disaster”, MoJo cooked good fries but needed more sauce, while Chris was compared to a Chinese pork chop more than another thing, but it was a very tasty spare rib.

Finally, the group had to prepare a dish worthy of a dinner party. Cliff opted for squid ink pasta, Gareth made sea bass with duchess potatoes and Hollandaise sauce, Mel made a truffle pie, MoJo also made a pasta dish with prawns and garlic bread as a side dish, while Chris opted to use white rice and corned beef – an ingredient which John and Gregg say has never been used Chef before.

Both Mel and Gareth were praised, while Cliff and MoJo both received criticism from the judges, with the latter’s raw shrimp really standing out as an issue. John was mixed on Chris’ bet, but Gregg was impressed. In the end, MoJo’s issues with her timing meant she was the first to go.

The next two episodes will see two other celebs from this group return home, while two of them will join the island of loveMcFly’s Faye Winter and McFly’s Danny Jones in the first run of the semis.
