Godzilla is looking for love in ‘Kaichu: The Kaiju Dating Sim’, coming soon

At the end of every classic Kaiju movie, the titular returns to the sea, knowing that his enemy is defeated. They return to their underwater homes, pour themselves coffee and watch the highlights of their day on TV. It’s not a bad day at work; but they’re alone, stuck in a cycle of people asking “where is the monster?” and never”How? ‘Or’ What is the monster?” Without local bars, mutual friends, community events or even Tinder, the kaiju dating scene is a tough world. If only there was a way for us mortal humans to be able to help…

We imagine a thought process similar to this went through Squiddershins mind when deciding on the subject of his latest game. The product of this process is Kaichu: The Kaiju Dating Sim, a game that encourages those who are tired of racing real-world encounters to imagine how difficult it would be if they were 300 feet tall.

Your task will be to take Gigachu – a radioactive dinosaur looking for love – on a global speed dating mission to find the “right monster”. “What exactly is a kaiju’s love language?” we hear you ask – well, from the game’s trailer, it looks like it’s something along the lines of destruction to citywide with a few flames and laser beams thrown in for good measure (not millions of miles away from a standard season of the island of love then).

With over 24 unique locations to meet your potential partner, you’ll need to listen to your date’s dreams and desires before providing complementary answers to ensure romantic success. Never mind the piña coladas and getting caught in the rain, in Kaichu there’s nothing more romantic than finding someone who enjoys destroying famous landmarks and hearing the screams of innocent bystanders as much as you do.

For more information on what to expect from these destructive dates, check out the game’s full feature list below:

• Multiple scenarios and endings: 6 adorable kaiju. Each with their own storyline and relationship obstacles.

• Non-linear gameplay: Completely open to explore the map and date any kaiju from the start of the game.

• 24 locations: all based on real-world locations, each with its own monument to destroy.

• Innovative Quiz Game: Reinventing the dating sim genre with compatibility questions based on each kaiju’s personality and preferences.

• Hand Painted Art: Hand painted backgrounds and hand-animated kaiju made with love in the style of TV animation.

• Soundtrack by Clark Aboud (kind wordskill the arrow)

An unsuccessful date will result in even more destruction (no likey, more fight) so we hope your little chat lives up to it.

Kaichu: The Kaiju Dating Sim is set to release on Switch on September 7, so you don’t have too long to wait to find out how exactly a small-armed dinosaur would kiss the love of his life.
