NetDragon: There is some weird news coming out of Hong Kong this week. A robot has been named CEO of a Chinese game company. Said game company plans to dominate the Metaverse. And we all know it all totally has Skynet vibes.
NetDragon Websoft Holdings Limited (HKSE: 0777) defines itself as a world leader in building Internet communities. They have their finger in a lot of pies. Flavors include games, phones, education, and VR/AR technology, among others.
They just announced that they have hired a new CEO. And it’s a robot. Named Ms. Tang Yu, the bot is an AI-powered virtual humanoid robot. Tang Yu has taken up his position (his position?) as rotating CEO.
Kyle Reese on standby please
It could go two ways from this point. We could see a naked man in an alley over the next few days, sent back across the space-time continuum to kidnap whoever invented this. Or we move on to a better society for all. The first option is a whole mood that we all know is the right answer.
NetDragon says the appointment is “a decision to pioneer the use of AI to transform business management and take operational efficiency to a new level.”
Tang Yu’s appointment is very much in line with the company’s goal of using an “AI + management” strategy. They say it pushes the company to become a “metaverse organization.”
“Tang Yu will streamline the process flow, improve the quality of work tasks, and improve the execution speed.”
Execution of whom though? Either way, someone puts Kyle on speed dial.
The company goes on to say, “Tang Yu will also serve as a real-time data hub and analytical tool to support rational decision-making in day-to-day operations, as well as enable a more effective risk management system. In addition, Tang Yu should play a vital role in developing talent and ensuring a fair and efficient workplace for all employees.
Can we define equitable, before the start of the executions?
Anyway, if you have to travel, don’t forget your computer. You can do freelance work to fund the fight against cyborgs.
Netdragon and AI
Dr. Dejian Liu is the current president of NetDragon. “We believe that AI is the future of business management, and our appointment of Ms. Tang Yu represents our commitment to truly embrace the use of AI to transform the way we operate our business and, in ultimately drive our future strategic growth. Going forward, we will continue to develop our algorithms behind Tang Yu to build an open, interactive and highly transparent business model as we gradually transform into a metaverse-based working community, which will allow us to attract a much broader base of talent worldwide. and put us in a position to achieve more ambitious goals.
NetDragon operates multiple internet and mobile platforms with hundreds of millions of users. They developed the first online game portal in China, called 17173.com. They also own the most influential smartphone app store in China – 91 Wireless.
NetDragon has also exploded its online education business. The plan is to combine online learning through NetDragon, with all schools around the world. Sounds like harmless world domination to me. What could go wrong?
