Shetland’s Twist Teases Lead Character Exit

Shetland spoilers follow.

ShetlandThe latest twist teased the exit of another major character from the series.

It has already been confirmed that Douglas Henshall, who plays DI Jimmy Perez on the show, will be making his final appearance in Season 7.

But now it looks like we might be saying goodbye to another cast member of the show thanks to a major twist in the third episode of Shetland.

In this episode, Connor is still missing, so DS Alison ‘Tosh’ McIntosh volunteers to check out a location that could provide key evidence and possibly even reveal Connor’s whereabouts himself. When Jimmy offers to take her place instead, she pushes him away and decides to ride solo.

During her search, she calls Jimmy to give him an update on the progress of her search, but while on the phone, she accidentally activates a tripwire.

As the countdown begins, Tosh struggles to find a way to escape, only to realize she is trapped. She then goes to a window but it does not open. On the next hit, the bomb explodes and Tosh is nowhere to be found.

It’s still possible that Tosh made it out alive, but the chances of him making it are very slim. Tosh is an integral part of the show, so it would be devastating for fans if they were to lose yet another character.

In July, it was revealed that Douglas Henshall would step down from Shetland after season 7.

“After series 5 of Shetland, David Kane and I decided to do 2 more series to complete the Jimmy Perez story. Series 6 and 7 were therefore ordered together to give us time to bring Perez’s story to a satisfying conclusion,” he said in a statement.

“It has been one of the privileges of my career to play Jimmy Perez for almost 10 years and to work with so many great people in front of and behind the camera, and also to spend so much time in Shetland.

“The Islands were so much a part of our show and Perez himself. I will miss him and the place. I wish everyone involved the best of luck with what happens next,” he added. .
